How Not To Kiss

Just as important as learning the right way to deliver an amazing kiss is learning the things to avoid doing and so you don't become an example of how not to kiss. For your convenience, I've made an easy list of things that both guys and girls may do that will definitely turn your kissing partner off. Also, because I don't claim to know all the different terrible kissing mistakes people can make, I will be asking some of friends around campus about the worst kissers they've had, and what made them so bad.

1. Too much saliva/slobbering/moisture. Out of all the people I asked, this is the one that came up again and again. Swallow your spit! Take a moment to lick your lips so they aren't too dry, but otherwise, keep that moisture in your mouth, or down your throat!

2. Closing your eyes too early. If you do this, you run the risk of miscalculating, bumping noses, faces, teeth, awkwardness. Just keep your eyes open until right before you meet.

3. Opening your eyes while kissing. DON'T open your eyes while you are kissing. I know it's tempting, and I know you probably will anyway, but you can't run the risk of opening your eyes and have them catch you staring at them. It freaks people out, both male and female.

4. Being overly aggressive with your lips. Nothing spoils a kiss better than an overaggressive kisser with stiff lips. Keep your kisses relaxed and loose. Don't tighten face. This will make you seem tense and not confident, when you really want to be relaxed and confident.

5. Being overly aggressive with your tongue. Don't use your tongue like a spear! Keep it soft and flexible. Don't use your tongue like a snake, swirling around in your partner's mouth. Just relax your tongue, if you do indeed use it for kissing, and let it gently tangle with your partner's tongue.

6. Moving too quickly. The best way to spoil a great kiss or kissing opportunity is by advancing its timing too quickly. Sometimes, the first date just isn't the right time for a kiss. Sometimes, you should wait until you are out of the store. Sometimes, your overzealous excitement to kiss can have a rather negative impact on the success of the kiss. let it flow naturally, and it will feel so much better.

7. Go in biting heavy. Unless you talked about this with your partner before you tried it, heavy biting is almost always a bad idea. A little nibbling or light grazing with the teeth can be okay, just avoid chomping down.

8. Giving a dog bath. Many people are guilty of this. Do NOT use your tongue on any part of your partner's face except their mouth. Many guys make this mistake, and think that licking a woman's cheek, chin, or nose is somehow sexy. It's not.

9. Fish kissing. Make a face like a fish. You know, with your lips sticking out. Now open and close them like a beached fish that can't breathe on land. Never do this while kissing. Keep your lips relaxed and open. (Submitted by Justine

10.Touching their teeth with your tongue. Don't try to clean their teeth, or move your tongue under their upper lip.

11. Having bad breath, or having junk in your teeth. C'mon...that's just a given. If you have been eating strong tasting foods, pop a mint (unless your partner has been eating the same foods of course). If you have a chance, just excuse yourself to the bathroom and make sure your teeth are ok and you don't have something funky stuck in them.

12. Not moving the rest of your body. Remember, the other parts of your body contribute just as much as your lips and tongue to successful kissing. The hands should be active, the body should be active. Shift positions. You don't want your partner to think you're a wooden doll.
